The strata industry in WA has come a long way over the last 5 years, with nearly 60 SCA WA strata managers having completed or nearly completed their Certificate IV in Strata Community Management (Cert IV) and a further 50 enrolled at an RTO who will add to this list over the coming months.
There is no doubt that the industry has matured past Landgate’s current proposed education requirements in the Draft General Regulations (Regs) which stipulates only 8 units of the Cert IV.
For our industry to continue maturing in WA we need a qualification that we as strata managers can aspire towards. A Cert IV requirement for strata managers would raise the profile of our industry and make it easier to attract graduates leaving school to join what is a fun and rewarding career. The Regs could phase this in over the next 4 years to ensure everyone can achieve this mandated requirement.
